Why Don’t I Feel Safe?
Therapy that gets to the root of the trauma still showing up now.
Therapy for Adult Survivors of Childhood Abuse in Maryland

You’ve Been Carrying This for a Long Time.
Not just what happened – but how it still shows up now. In the way you think about yourself. In the way you respond to people. In the way relationships feel harder than they should.
You find yourself replaying conversations after they happen. Wondering whether you said the wrong thing, did too much, or somehow got it wrong again. You work hard to keep things together, but inside, you’re exhausted from constantly second-guessing yourself.
Maybe you’ve become the person who takes care of everyone else but struggles to take care of yourself. Maybe you’re successful on the outside but privately feel anxious, disconnected, or overwhelmed. Maybe you’ve spent years trying to understand why certain situations affect you so strongly while other people seem to move on.
You know something isn’t working – but you don’t know how to make it different.

You Keep Ending Up in the Same Place.
You’ve probably tried to fix this before.
You’ve read books, listened to podcasts, talked yourself through it, distracted yourself, pushed yourself harder, or told yourself you just need to let it go. And sometimes those things help – for a little while.
But then something happens. A conflict. A disappointment. A difficult conversation. A stressful season.
And suddenly you’re right back where you started.
The same fears show up. The same self-doubt. The same reactions that leave you wondering, “Why does this keep happening?”
At some point, it becomes difficult not to blame yourself. You start wondering if this is just who you are. If you’ll always struggle with relationships. If you’ll always feel this way.

What Happens If Nothing Changes?
The longer these patterns continue, the smaller life can become.
You spend more time managing anxiety than enjoying the people and experiences that matter to you. You hold back in relationships because you’re afraid of getting hurt.
You stay stuck in cycles that leave you feeling frustrated, disconnected, or ashamed. Things that once felt meaningful begin to feel harder to access.
And perhaps most painful of all, you begin losing faith that change is possible.

You’re ready to feel better – in a way that lasts.
Lasting change requires getting to the root of the problem. A lot of therapy focuses on reducing symptoms – and that can be helpful. Sometimes it’s necessary.
But for many people, symptoms aren’t random problems to eliminate. They stem from old patterns, important relationships, and unfinished emotional business. That’s why simply learning coping skills or trying to “think differently” may help for a while … but often doesn’t lead to lasting change.
In our work together, you’ll begin to notice
- Choice over reflex Your reactions slow down so you can choose instead of brace.
- Your own voice Your inner critic gets quieter and your own voice gets louder.
- Steadier in yourself You feel steadier in yourself.
- Real connection You have relationships that feel real, safe, and meaningful.
- The life you want You build the life you want – not the life you’ve learned to expect.
Three phases of real change.
Connect
We slow down and build a working relationship where your nervous system can actually settle. You stop bracing alone.
Identify
Together we trace the patterns back to the people and moments that taught them. We name what you learned to do to survive. The pattern stops being a mystery.
Build
You learn new responses, new ways of being with yourself, new ways of being in the world. The old patterns lose their grip. You become the active participant in your own corner.
Specialized trauma therapy, built for survivors
I’m trained in an integrative model designed for adults with trauma that occurred throughout childhood. My approach is evidence-based and individualized to you.
The convenience of telehealth
Sessions happen securely from wherever you are. No commute, no waiting room, no extra layer of exposure on a hard day.
An active participant in your corner
My approach is warm, collaborative, and active. I provide space for support and understanding, but I also help you look beneath the surface of what’s happening. I ask questions, offer observations, and help connect dots that can be difficult to see on your own.

Will this work if I’ve already done a lot of therapy?
Often, yes. Many of my clients have done years of insight work and still feel stuck in the same loops. My approach reaches the layer that talk therapy alone hasn’t been able to reach.
Do I need to remember everything to do this work?
No. You don’t have to have it all sorted out before you start. We work with what’s showing up now, and the past surfaces at a pace your system can actually handle.
How long does it take?
It depends on the depth of the patterns and your goals. Most clients begin to feel real shifts within the first few weeks and continue the deeper work from there.
Is telehealth as effective as in-person therapy for trauma?
For most adult survivors, yes. Many clients find the safety of their own space makes harder material easier to approach, not harder.
Your life doesn’t have to be defined by your past.
Take the First Step Today
You’ve spent enough time believing that no matter how hard you try, you’ll always end up in the same place. That story was written when you were too young to write your own.
You can heal what happened to you. You can stop carrying what was never yours to carry. You can build a life that belongs to you. The past shaped you – but it doesn’t have to keep running you.
