Dr. EI do this work because I believe therapy works.
Not because it’s easy, but because we heal in relationships. Therapy offers something rare: honest, meaningful conversations about what’s going on beneath the surface. It’s some of the most real work we can do.
One of the most powerful forces in our lives is love – especially in the relationships that shaped us early on. We learn who we are in those relationships, and we carry them with us. Sometimes, these early relationships hold the key to what keeps our patterns running.
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, insightful, and have tried hard to create change – and yet, something still doesn’t shift. Part of what I bring is the ability to notice specific, often subtle patterns, and help you understand them in a way that leads somewhere. My role is active, collaborative, and engaged; I don’t just sit back and listen.
The goal isn’t just insight. It’s using that understanding to create meaningful change.
Credentials & Background
I’m a licensed clinical psychologist through the Board of Examiners of Psychologists in West Virginia and Maryland, and a National Register Health Service Psychologist (#65935). I’m also a PSYPACT-authorized provider (#15562), allowing me to offer telehealth across participating states, and I currently work with teens and adults in West Virginia, Maryland, and Virginia.
I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from James Madison University (JMU), where my training emphasized an integrative, formulation-driven approach to understanding complex mental health concerns.
My work is grounded in Interpersonal Reconstructive Therapy (IRT) – I am a certified practitioner of IRT and teach and train other clinicians in the model. I integrate additional evidence-based approaches when helpful, including CPT, WET, CBT, and ERP.
My Approach & Training
I focus on integration – understanding how your symptoms make sense and using techniques that will get to the root of the problem that sustains your symptoms. As such, I don’t lead with any singular technique but use multiple, depending on the person and what they need. Because I’m looking at the whole, I’ll ask you about your cultural factors, mental and physical health history, and attachment and learning history. I explore how you think, feel, and behave in response to your presenting concerns and all of this informs the story of how this all makes sense.
